"Shelia Hamilton is a
silk smooth syrinx of a classical flutist."
James Bacon is a classical guitarist whose consummate technique is lit by the

"inspired by Bacon's ebullient picking, Hamilton blew past perfect

About the Artists
The Hamilton Bacon Duo features classical guitarist James Bacon and flutist Sheila Hamilton. They have over 20 years experience in performing, recording and teaching, and together are one of the most established and sought after classical music ensembles in the Hudson Valley.
James Bacon studied under two of the top world-renowned classical guitarists, Benjamin Verdery and David Starobin at New York University and the Purchase College Conservatory of Music where, in 1986, he earned his B.F.A. in music performance. He has freelanced in the New York City and Hudson Valley areas as a solo musician and in various classical, jazz and blues groups. Mr. Bacon is a professor of guitar, on faculty at Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Sheila Hamilton began her classical music training at age five and began performing professionally as a teenager. She has concertized extensively in the Cleveland, Ohio, and the New York Hudson Valley regions, and appears on numerous CDs. Ms. Hamilton was a student of the celebrated Julius Baker and Metropolitan Opera flutist Trudy Kane, both of the Julliard School. A double scholarship recipient (flute and piano), she holds degrees from Eberhardt-Karls Universitaet in Germany and S.U.N.Y, and has performed in masterclasses with Joshua Smith, Gary Schocker and Jeffrey Khaner. Ms. Hamilton maintains a private flute studio and serves on the faculties of the Mountain Laurel Waldorf School in New Paltz, Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and the Arts Community of New Paltz.
The Duo enjoys a wide-ranging repertoire including Renaissance music, the great virtuosic flute classics of J.S. Bach, the Tango music of Spain and Latin America, as well as Romantic and Contemporary music, all performed with flair and imagination.
